Website Makeover of the Month! - March
Here is our Website Makeover of the Month for March! The graphic above shows the redesign we created and the graphic below, the old website design. This website is for Intervol, a non-profit medical supply and health care organization located in Rochester, NY.
The three objectives the redesign of this website are to accomplish are:
Objective #1: The design had to visually emphasize the medical supply and healthcare industry. We felt adding graphics as background tiles would give the site a more professional look, Solution #1: We gave the web design a visual look that better supported the purpose of the business. We decided to use a "ghosted" image of an a child with her new sibling and healthcare professionals. It was also integrated better into the overall design. The key services provided by the organization are now highlighted in white the white cells.. Finally, the new design has a no nonsense look that conveys a spirit of quiet competence. Objective #2: The redesigned cover page needed to be content rich, loaded with keywords that would be used by search engines to index the site. This would improve the search engine rankings. The old design did not have enough text for the search engines to register it in the proper categories. Too many of the descriptive terms were in the graphics, which search engines cannot read. Solution #2: We added four times as much text to the first page, splitting it up into 4 blocks of copy to better integrate it into the design. The text briefly describes key services and needs of the organization. We added descriptive text links that greatly enhance the ability of the website to be properly indexed and ranked by search engines. Objective #3: The design had to be easily customizable by the client. They already had a good knowledge of html and needed a website they could easily add pages to while staying true to the overall design of the site. Solution # 3: All the pages use basic html tables to lay out text columns, easily updated by anyone with a knowledge of html. The navigation at the top of each page easily accommodates many more pages. It is updated by adding links to a small text file that automatically updates the links on all pages in the site. The end result is an effective website design that is search engine ready, easy to upgrade, and provides a usable, clear and professional image for a non-profit healthcare organization. Isn't that what good web design is all about? Think your website is a good candidate for a makeover? Submit it today! If your site is ten pages or less, you may be chosen to receive a professional redesign at an incredibly low price. And, it will be a featured site here! The only stipulation we make is that the site must have a small link back to our site as long as it uses our redesign. That's it!
