Advertising...
For every prospect you identify by name-and there are many-there are hundreds more who remain unidentified and unnamed. How do you reach this vast audience of unknown prospects? The answer lies in an old marketing standby-advertising. Paid media advertising is still the best way to deliver a marketing message in one pass to a broad audience, reaching those prospective customers whom cannot be readily identified by other means. A mixed-media campaign - trade magazine, direct mail, postcard decks, newsletters, CD-ROM, the Web, and more - spreads your message and fills in the gaps among potential customers.

Chilton Publishing, in its landmark
marketing study of industrial buyers and sellers found that generating sales leads is the marketing objective shared by the largest number of sellers. It found that 60% of all buyers indicated that they didn't know a particular company sold the advertised product before seeing the advertisement. In addition, an astonishing 82% had never seen a salesman from that particular company, although 76% had a specific application in mind for the product or service. And that 87% of all people who sent for information did so with the expectation to purchase. Further,

  • 19.9% purchased the advertised product or service

  • 17.0% purchased a competitive product or service

  • 50.1% were still considering purchase at the time of the study

Why do marketers advertise?

  • Enhance Databases of Customers/Prospects 12.1 %
